Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has announce his retirement from international soccer with Czech Republic. The long serving goalkeeper said he does not feel he would be able to carry on to the next World Cup holding in Russia.
The 34 year old has amassed a record 124 caps and played for 14 years for his country. He played all three matches at Euro 2016 but his team picked up just one point at the tournament and finished bottom of their group. The goalkeeper said his decision to retire has nothing to do with his team's performance but he would have preferred a victorious farewell.
He said on Twitter "We lived some amazing moments together - wishing the team all the best for the future." The high point of his career was his team's run to the semifinals at Euro 2004.
