France 2:0 Germany. Griezmann double seals France's progress.
France sent a huge statement to Portugal as they swept aside Germany in the second EURO 2016 Semifinal tonight.
The game started with both teams playing attacking soccer and trying to catch each other on the break. Many half chances were created, free kicks and corners taken but none was buried. Giroud was released on goal in the 39th minute but the Arsenal striker's shot was blocked.
However in the 45th minute, a controversial penalty was awarded after German captain Schweinsteiger handled in the box and Griezmann buried the resulting penalty.
After the interval, Germany pushed hard to find a way back into the game but the French defence stood firm. The game's clincher came in the 72nd minute. After some delightful footwork by Paul Pogba, the resulting cross was parried by Neuer into the path of Griezmann who wasted no time hitting a volley into the net.
Germany fought hard with Jonas Hector coming close a number of times but France stood firm to set up a final meeting with Portugal.
