Lionel Messi and father Jorge Messi have been sentenced to 21 months in jail each by a Spanish court for allegedly evading tax authorities to the tune of €4 million.
Luckily for the Argentine duo, prison sentences under 2 years can be served under probation according to Spanish law. Therefore the Barcelona star will not go to jail.
This is the latest in the series of saddening events for the Rosario native recently as he is still dealing with heartbreak from losing his third straight major competition final; a loss that caused him to announce his retirement from the national team.
Truly this is one year to forget for the five time Ballon D'Or winner.
