Why Brendan Rodgers might not last as Celtic head coach.

The Brendan Rodgers brouhaha

Three seasons ago, Liverpool FC were on top in the league, Suarez was on fire, the SAS (Suarez and Sturridge) were demolishing all comers and things were going so well and they needed just a few more wins and some good luck to win their first league title in 8 years.

Then it happened;
Game day, Liverpool were leading with three goals to nil and all seemed well. In a game where a sound coach should have ordered his charges to close down the game and defend against cointer attacks, this was not the case as this Liverpool team allowed substiture Dwight Gayle to score two goals in eleven minutes and condemn the team to a draw which effectively dented their chances of winning the title and Luiz Suarez couldn't hold back his tears in that game.

Liverpool fans are devastated as they lose the league to Manchester City and then something happened that revealed the lack of tactical nous of the Irish coach; Luiz Suarez left to Barcelona in a huge deal and the money is reinvested to help the team make another challenge at the title. Several players come in. Alas, the problems began. Things began to unravel. None of the new charges could reproduce the magic of the departed talisman.

The team sticks with the Northern Irish coach hoping for a reattempt at the title and the next season takes a turn, yes, a turn, for the worse. The team fails to produce at the previous season's level and found themselves in a disappointing position at the end of the season. Even Steven Gerrard was sent off in style; a 6:1 walloping by Stoke City on the veteran's last day in a Liverpool shirt and on the last day of the season.

Brendan Rodgers was finally sacked and the man kept boasting that he had a lot of offers, okay. Finally, according to him, he chose Celtic and things looked on the up for him, but his first match, it showed again, Celtic, a Scottish footballing juggernaut were felled by a semi professional football club from Gibraltar, Lincoln Red Imps in a competitive game, mind you, not a friendly preseason game.

What went wrong? Were the players not motivated enough? Were their senior players out? No not one bit. The reason; no Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling etc. to step up this time and save this time. Why do you think Suarez was in tears when the league title was lost against Crystal Palace, because he was the one carrying the team and felt the disappointment the most, simple. There were no players like the Uruguayan to produce magic out of the blue and score goals. Here, tactics are king and the obviously lacking Rodgers takes the defeat with a strong face, okay, no problem.

I have said it before and I will say it again, Brendan Rodgers is not a coach for the big stage, he is a coach for the likes of teams like Swansea where he made his name before Liverpool signed him. The same Liverpool team he struggled with is the same team that reached the Europa League final and Capital One Cup final in the space of months when a tactical colossus came in charge, Jurgen Klopp. You don't beat Bayern Munich to the league title twice with Dortmund and not be a tactics god and the man is showing it.

Celtic have already described the loss to Lincoln Red Imps as the worst result in their history and they are making excuses of the type of pitch used, the humidity etc.
Celtic are a team with very high expectations from their dedicated Scottish fans and really Rodgers will find this job a lot tougher.

My honest advise to them is if they don't want things to get worse, they had better let the Irishman go while they still can and get a coach with apt tactical know-how and a true ability to get the best of out his players.
Readers what do you think??

Celtic, you have been warned.
