Mikel Arteta had confirmed that he is hanging up his boots to take up a role on Manchester City's technical team.
The 34 year old former Arsenal captain confirmed via a statement on Twitter that he will be calling time on his career to join Pep Guardiola's technical ten ahead of next season.
Arteta joined Arsenal from Everton and spent five years with the Gunners.
