Brazil have finally gotten rid of their Olympic duck as the greatest footballing nation on the planet won their first ever Olympic gold medal yesterday at the legendary Estadio Jornalista Mário Filho (Maracanã) stadium.
Much had been said about the team's captain and Barcelona star Neymar before the game but the mammoth crowd at the stadium cheered their Golden boy's every touch and he duly repayed their love with a wonderful first half free kick in the 27th minute to put Brazil ahead.
Max Meyer however equalized from the spot in the 59th minute and the game remained that way for 90 minutes hence progressing to extra time and finally penalties were needed to separate the two teams.
Both teams scored 4 each before Nils Peterson's effort was expertly saved by Weverton paving the way for the Golden Boy to become immortal and he didn't let the opportunity pass him by as he sent Timo Horn the wrong way to clinch Olympic gold for his country for the first time ever.
Congratulations Brazil!!
