Arsenal have ended their search for a centre forward as they are set to sign 28 year old Deportivo la Coruna striker
Lucas Perez. The striker who scored 17 goals in La Liga last season will cost Arsenal £17.1 million and is expected in London on Friday to have his medicals and finalize his move.
The front man had been the target of several clubs including Everton and Valencia but has decided to sign with the Gunners instead where he is expected to challenge or even oust Olivier Giroud in the starting lineup.
Perez joined Deportivo from Greek side PAOK FC where he spent two seasons, making 32 appearances and scored 9 goals. His poor stats cost him a place in the team and he was sent out on loan to Deportivo where the Spaniard attained his potential and became a true goal threat and therefore signed a 4 year contract with the Spanish club. He went on to score 24 goals in 58 appearances for the Spanish club despite their poor 18th placed finish last season.
The striker will be Arsenal 4th signing of the season, a number which could increase as news persist about Mustafi completing a move to the Emirates soon.
Welcome Perez!!
