The 2016 Olympics' men soccer kicked off today in Brazil, here are the key points to note;
1. The games begin August 4th with the opening game played at Rio's Olympic Stadium while the men and women final will be held at the legendary MaracanĂ£ Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, on 19 and 20 August respectively.
2. The matches will be played at seven stadiums in six cities with Rio de Janeiro the major host city.
3. Mexico are the defending champions as they defeated Brazil in the 2012 final at the Wembley stadium and they have fielded a strong team again this time.
4. Brazil are desperate to win gold as the great footballing nation are yet to add an Olympic Gold medal to their collection of national honors though a 0:0 draw with 10 man South Africa in their opening match didn't help.
5. The last time the host nation of the Olympics won the men's soccer gold was in Spain in 1992.
