With the new EPL season kicking off on August 13, a particular organization I have heard nothing about despite my years watching the league has given new rules for the players, officials and staff to adhere to. (when we were still trying to understand the initial ones)
Anyway notable among them includes;
1. It is now possible to get a red card before a game due to tunnel or warm up misconduct. Suarez had better thank his stars he is no longer in the EPL.
2. Defenders that deny goal scoring opportunities in the box will not be sent off as the penalty is already sufficient punishment. Instead they will be awarded a yellow card. Oh common, really. Now that bald headed Kompany will have a free ride.
3. Players on the receiving end of a tackle do not need to leave the field to be treated as it would be unfair for the team to be at a numerical disadvantage against the team of the player that committed the offense. Oh man, Shaolin soccer has officially become useless.
4. Feinting after the run up is complete results in a yellow card for the penalty taker and an indirect free kick to the opposition. Yesssssssss!! Crazy Sturridge!!
5. Handball offenders will only be awarded a yellow card when the offence interrupts a promising attack. Did you hear that Manchester United, we are finally free to add keeping skills to our defenders' training. Yaaaaaaayyyy!!!
6. It is no longer allowed to oppose referee decisions, argue face to face with officials, use insulting or offensive language or even run towards an official.
Seems like officials will be coming with security soon.
Check out the remaining rules on FIFA's website.
