, Cristiano Ronaldo turned the game on its head and scored a hat-trick sealing the win for Real Madrid and adding another trophy to his already stellar collection.
However, this win added another record to Ronaldo's already burgeoning list as he became the first player ever to win the Euros, Champions League, Club World Cup and the Ballon d'Or in the same year. Teammate Alvaro Morata who replaced Ronaldo also made history as the first ever fourth substitute in Club World Cup history. Defeated finalists Kawashima were also the first Japanese team to reach the final of the competition. What a day!!
Zinedine Zidane will now have to successfully manage his team with the Spanish Primera widely believed to be his priority for the season. Putting it in mind that Madrid's season fell apart under Ancelotti after their Club World Cup campaign which led to his dismissal, Zidane will need to ensure that doesn't repeat itself again as they look to preserve their 6 point lead over Barcelona.
Hala Madrid!!
