United continue winning ways as Pogba makes debut

Manchester United 2:0 Southampton.

Manchester United have continued their perfect start to the season with another win on the bounce against Southampton. The pregame buildup was overshadowed by the potential debut
of the world most expensive man Paul Pogba and the former Juventus midfielder was named in the starting lineup.

The game started with the Saints having the most of the chances with Dusan Tadic coming close but couldn't arrive early to connect with an cross from Nathan Redmond. Redmond and Shane Long equally has chances of their own as Southampton bossed the early proceedings despite Pogba's ball winning and precise passing heroics in midfield.

The game opener came in the 35th minute when Zlatan Ibrahimovich buried Wayne Rooney's outswinging cross past a despairing Forster.

Dusan Tadic had the ball in the net minutes later but the goal was correctly ruled out for offside.

Jordy Clasie who had been having a decent game then gave away a penalty when he clipped Luke Shaw in the box in the 51st minute and Zlatan Ibrahimovich made no mistake from the spot.

Southampton never really posed a threat as they looked to break down a resolute Manchester United defence with Eric Bailly frustrating their efforts on more than one occasion. United had chances on the break with Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba missing clear-cut chances to seal the game.

Manchester United held on to continue their 100 percent start to the season.
